About Me

My name is Tricia and I am a almost 40(!) year old wife and mother. Wife to Daren who loves me despite the suffering I put him through on a regular basis and momma to Tristan, my 3 year old son who I love more than I could have thought possible.

We are a typical (if such a thing exists) family. We live in a single family home with a garage filled with too much stuff to get a car in there. We drive a mini-van that probably uses too much gas. We try to eat as a family when we can but are not unfamiliar with runs to a drive thru when we can't make that happen. We try to recycle as much as we can and try to remember to take the trash to the curb every week. Our house is never actually spotless and there are times when the laundry almost overtakes us. We have a dog and 2 guinea pigs. We go to Walmart, the library, and the park. We bicker and fight sometimes and there are times when Tristan tries my patience to the point where I think my 3 year must already be 15. We have battles of will, fights over what to eat, what to wear, and when to go to bed.

My husband and I both work full time. We watch TV, play video games, love movies and college football. We have great friends and try to see them when we can. We have a mortgage and bills to pay and there never seems to be enough money.

We are going into this new educational experience hoping that our son finds a school where he can learn the best way he learns, at his own pace and within his interests in a place where he feels safe, comfortable and without the pressure of trying to be perfect and get perfect grades. For me, it is not about whether or not he got an A on a test of someone else's standards. Instead, it's about whether he found something that engaged him and challenged him to learn more about it.  We are looking for him to learn about respect, grace, courtesy and love for all people as well as receiving the same back.  These are big ideals to try to achieve and we don't always reach them in our daily lives.  But they are things we want him to know about and experience both at home and in school.

All in all, we try to remember that we have a family we love and who loves us back and that everything else is second to that!
